225 low water pressure procedures

Question 1

During the 1st full week in may all engines & squads shall obtain pressure readings on the hydrant located nearest to QTR.’s. What are the days and times these readings shall be recorded?

Answer 1

Sunday thru Saturday inclusive,
1000,1300,1600,1900,2200 hours(approx.)

what do you do w/ the readings?

Answer 2

The readings shall be recorded on the “hydrant pressure chart” which shall be posted at the housewatch desk throughout the summer season.

Question 3

During a phase 1 “water pressure alert” when shall each unit take & record the pressure?

Answer 3

Starting at 1000 hrs. every hour until 2200 hours.

What shall the officer FAX to the battalion upon completing they’re assigned patrol duties during a phase 2 “water pressure emergency”?

Answer 4

1) the number of illegally opened hydrants
2) the number shut down
3) the number of spray caps placed
4) any areas experiencing dangerously low water pressures that could adversely affect firefighting ops.

Question 5

When should units close down illegally opened hydrants?

Answer 5

AT ALL TIMES. whenever the officer in command determines that such action wont precipitate an incident.
