explain the process of MASS flow translocation

A
  • sucrose actively pumped into phloem by companion cells
  • water potential decreased, water diffuses from xylem via osmosis
  • hydrostatic pressure increases ∴ water + solutes forced downwards (to relieve pressure) = MASS FLOW
