A

What is principled negotiation?

A

Principled negotiation is based on the merits of the case. We need to find ways to work together in order to ensure that wise choices are made that benefit everyone. i.e pragmatic / realistic / sensible / practical.

What is your negotiation style?

A

2 main strategies are: tough/demanding or friendly/accommodating. However, I describe myself as pragmatic (practical / sensible). Sort of in-between. I’m courteous in my approach (ROC Rule 4) but also if I believe in a non-negotiable, it will be non-negotiable.

A

How did you negotiate a quotation?

A

Prepare for meeting. Have all evidence and data.

At the meeting, stating the negotiables and the non-negotiables.

Being respectful and courteous (ROC Rule 4).

End goal is getting to a position that satisfies both parties. I want to get the quote to a place that is more than defendable and line with the contract. I do not want to implement anything that could later be disallowed cost. E.g. insufficient records.

A
