Q

How do use the force from a magnet and a current carrying conductor to make an electric motor rotate?

A

You need a split ring commutator and this will allow current to flow from the battery but change to different halves of the coil as it spins.

Q

How is electromagnetic induction used to produce AC

A

By using an alternator as the rotation continues in a wire and that side of the coil moves down, the induced potential difference reverses direction. This means that the alternator produces a current that is constantly changing

Q

How is electromagnetic production used to produce dc

A

A dynamo allows a current to be driven that doesn’t change direction

Q

how does a microphone work?

A

A sound wave hits the diaphragm of the microphone, compressions push the diaphragm in and rarefactions pull it out which produces an electrical signal from the microphone.

Q

How does a loudspeaker work?

A

The changing potential difference produces a current and that current produces a force on a coil of wire and the cone doesn’t spin but it moves in and out which produces a sound wave.
