A

Sarah’s law:
- Child sex offender disclosure scheme
- Allowed parents to ask police if convicted sex offenders were in their local area, following the abduction and murder of 8yr old girl Sarah Payne in 2000.
- The News of the world helped by naming and shaming pedophiles and promised to reveal the identity of all pedophiles in Britain.

Clare’s Law:
- Domestic violence disclosure scheme - right to ask and know
- Following murder of Clare Wood by ex-boyfriend George Appleton who had a previous record of domestic violence
- Her father Michael pushed the campaign, led to the right to ask and the know.

  • Followed the school shooting of Dunblane where 17 people were shot and killed, 16 being children and one teacher.
  • Following this a group of mourning parents and gathered 750,000 signatures to change gun laws in the UK
  • Following this John Major’s government banned all guns except single caliber guns but when Tony Blair came PM, he banned all guns.
