What is an incident commander defined as?
Nominated competent person on the fire ground
For what reason might a more senior officer not be in charge?
To perform a monitoring role
What is the minimum rank of an IC?
T/CM
Who should take responsibility for being IC when more than 1 appliance on route?
Appliance commander of first truck arriving at scene unless relieved by a higher level of manager
Who has more responsibility, WMA or B?
None, both have received same command training
Who should be IC on who’s Station ground?
IC of the truck on their own ground unless an equal rank is in attendance prior to their arrival
Does a temp role of a higher rank outweigh a substantive of the rank below for incident command?
Temp of rank above takes IC
Should a substantive WM take over a temp WM as IC?
Yes
Who should take IC over land or fireboat?
Land Based IC trumps fireboat IC
At incidents that attract the attendance of a WM, should a stop be sent before their arrival?
No
WM must make a DRA first
Can officers in a support/ specialist capacity assume command?
Not unless immediate safety concerns with regards to ICs performance and only if no other Officer is available
What colour is the IC surcoat?
White yoke /yellow lower with incident commander insert
At any incident, who should take initial responsibility for command?
IC of first appliance to arrive
