Why did the Germans invaded Stalingrad?
A
Some believe that Hitler wanted to attack it for other reasons perhaps to boost German morale while simultaneously damaging Soviet morale. The fact that the city was named after Hitler’s arch enemy Stalin was the reason from a German point of view that it had to be destroyed and likewise from a Soviet viewpoint why it had to be saved.

What was Operation Barbarossa?
A
A secret plan developed by Hitler to capture the land to the east: Russia, Czechoslovakia and Poland. They thought the Slavic people were inferior and wanted living space. The Germans launched this plan on June 21st 1941.
