Chp 4 Flashcards
What are thermal properties?
Of a material are the responses of the material to changes in temperature.
Heat resistance is the ability of a material to retain its mechanical strength at an elevated temperature.
Ceramics can withstand Temps up to 5000°Friday.
Polymers can withstand Temps up to 500°F.
What is transition temperature?
Is the temperature where properties of a material change.
What is thermal conductivity?
Is the ability of a material to transfer heat from a body of high temperature to a body of lower temperature.
The higher the thermal conductivity of a material, the faster heat cab transfer through it.
The thermal conductivity of a material is determined by its structure.
Silver is best conducting heat.
