Data is raw facts and figures. It can arise through surveys, results from an experiment, transactions.

A
Giving a meaning to Data. It is Data that has been processed, converting a meaning and organised in some way.

A
Knowledge is applying rules to the information.

Why is Data Encoded?
A
- Takes less effort to type in.
- More Data can appear on screen.
- Takes up less storage.
- It is easier to check code is correct.

A
We have the rely on the judgements of others. They may not be precise information.
