What are the kind of lines and what do they represent?
Vertical?
Horizontal?
Diagonal?
Curved?
Vertical → represents dignity, formality, strength, stability
Horizontal → represents calm, peace, and relaxation
Diagonal → represents action, activity, excitement and movement
Curved → represents freedom, the natural, having the appearance of softness and creates a soothing feeling or mood.
What are the types of colors?
What can color do in a design?
What are the complimentary colors? Why are they paired with eachother?
Warm Colors - reds, oranges, yellows
Cool Colors - blues, purples, greens
Color can affect how humans feel and act
Complimentary Colors are paired bc they make each other stand out.
Orange and Blue, Red and Green, Yellow and Purple
What is Form and Shape?
What are some examples?
What is the difference between Form and Shape?
The shape outline, or configuration of anything
Ex. circles, ovals, squares, ellipses, rectangles, triangles
Form - 3 Dimensional
Shape - 2 Dimensional
How does Space affect the design?
What are the types?
By incorporating the use of space in your design, you can enlarge or reduce the visual space.
Types
- open, uncluttered spaces
- unused vs good use of space
- cramped, busy
What is Texture?
What are the types of textures and what is the effect?
Texture is the surface or feel of something
Types
- Smooth Surface - reflects more light, and, therefore is more intense color
- Rough Surface - absorbs more light, and, therefore appears darker
What is Value?
What are the kinds of Value? and what are they?
Value is the relative lightness or darkness of a color
Shade
Degree of darkness of a color
Tint
A pale or faint variation of a color
