Warning against bone mineral density loss and that should not be used for more than 2 years.
Bone loss is reversible. No evidence for increased fracture risk. Black box warning not supported by ACOG
How can you be reasonably certain a patient is not pregnant?
Less than or equal to 7 days since start of normal menses. No intercourse since last menses. negative pregnancy test.
If unable to be certain if patient is pregnant or not and desires contraception (specifically in adolescents), benefit > risks for “quick start” initiation with which methods?
OCP, patch, ring, POP, implant, DPMA. repeat pregnancy tests in 2-4 wks.
