Why should you keep your food safe to eat?
The food you eat can make you sick
How should you keep your foods safe to eat
CLEAN~ hands, food and surfaces/tools must be kept clean and dry
SEPARATE~ keep foods with possible contamination(raw meat) away from foods that are ready to eat(washed raw veggies/bread)
COOK~ cook foods completely to kill any food borne disease
CHILL~ keep cold foods cold. Do not allow foods to sit out.

Why should you make half your grains whole
- Consuming foods rich in fiber reduces the risk of heart disease
- helps with digestion(make you poop)
- keeps you satisfied.. Help with weight management… Fills you up longer
How should you make half your grains whole
- whole wheat bread when making sandwiches
- eat a nice snack of granola bars
- snack on popcorn
- brown rice instead of white rice
- oatmeal or whole grain cereal for breakfast
Why should you focus on fruits
- contain natural sugars instead of added sugar
- sweet but also have the benefit of vitamins
- reduce risk of stroke, heart disease, diabetes, and protect against cancer
How should you focus on fruits
- drink smoothies
- apple for snack
- add fresh strawberries and blueberries to cereal
- don’t be fruitless and stock up
- eat fresh fruits that are in season
- fruit salsa
Why should you vary your veggies
- different colors have different vitamins
- protect from disease - fiber in veggies
- lower calorie intake
- make it less boring
