What happens when the cross-feed is placed in LOW 1?
The pump turns off in tank one and the cross feed valve opens.

Is a takeoff allowed with the Fuel Inbalance EICAS message displayed?
As long as the imbalance limitation of 800 lbs is not exceeded.
The EICAS message remains illuminated until the imbalance is within 100lbs. If the XFEED remains out of the OFF position with less than 100lbs imballance the FUEL EQ XFEED OPEN message will be open.
