What is FAA Form 8110-3 used for?
Form 8110-3 is a “Statement of Compliance With the Federal Aviation Regulations”. It is used to issue a DER approval for a design of certain piece of equipment, material etc. and indicates that the DER finds the subject in question to be in compliance with the FAA regulations.
What is FAA Form 8130-9 (statement of conformity) used for?
Form 8130-9 ensures that parts are manufactured and/or installed to the latest revision of the descriptive data (according to 14 CFR Part 21 Subpart F), prior to FAA inspection.
Can an aircraft be released from maintenance using FAA Form 8130-3?
No. An Aircraft may not be released using FAA Form 8130-3.
Does an installment of a STC require FAA Form 337?
Yes. Any STC is by definition a major alteration and thus requires a FAA Form 337

What is the difference between FAA form 8130-3 and a Certificate of Conformity?
Both attest to an articles conformity but the FAA Form 8130-3 can be used for multiple purposes.
