What are DSM domains in SUD ?

A
  1. IMPAIRED CONTROL
    - larger amounts than was intended
    - persistent desire and unsuccessful effort to cut down or control use
    - lots of time spent to obtain and recover from substance
    - craving, or strong urge to use
  2. Social Impairment
    - recurrent failure to fulfill obligations at work, school, or home.
    - continued use despite persistent or recurrent social or interpersonal problems exacerbated by substance.
    - Important social, occupational, or recreational activities are given up.
  3. Risky Use
    - recurrent use in situations which are physically hazardous
  4. Pharmacological Criterion:
    Tolerance - need more to achieve same effect or diminished effect
    Withdrawal - syndrome or substance taken to avoid withdrawal
