Q

How can we use authority to explain what’s happening in “A Class Divided”?

A

In “A Class Divided” authority or power was given to a specific group of people who have a designated eye-color which determines if a person is smart or dumb. The group of people who had the smarter eye-color had more authority, were able to enjoy more in the school and score better because of the confidence that they are at the top.

Q

How can we use stereotype to explain what’s happening in “A Class Divided”?

A

Students were separated into two groups by their eye-color. Their eye-color represented that person’s smart or dumb. The people with the smarter eye-color started to discriminate against themselves from the other group and bullied them by calling them by their eye-color. This creates a misunderstanding of a person’s true character due to no logical reasoning.

Q

How can we use differential treatment to explain what’s happening in “A Class Divided”?

A

People in the smarter eye-color group treated the dumb eye-color group differently than the people in their own group. They were bullying each other just because they had different eye-color. This also leads to social hierarchy as some feel they are at the top and some feel very low.
