A level. Flashcards
1
Q
How do you set out a proof?
A
-State variables and define for positive negative
-Remember than squared and prime always above zero
1. Specialise
2. Generalise
abc = 100a + 10b + 10c
-For proof by contradiction assume the converse
-Always conclude using statement!
2
Q
What is the sum for all sequences?
A
Sn = n/2 (2a + (n-1)d)
- a is the first number
- d is the difference between the terms
- n is the number of terms in the sequence
3
Q
What does converges mean?
A
To a limit e.g. zero
4
Q
What does diverges to?
A
-no limit e.g. positive or negative infinity
5
Q
What does oscillating mean and periodic?
A
- Changes back and fourth
- If only 3 numbers that alternate then periodic 3
6
Q
What do you need to remember for binomial expansion?
A
- Pascal coefficients
- Brackets
7
Q
What is the permutation equation?
A
-Order matters
nPr = n! / (n-r) !
8
Q
What is a combination?
A
-unordered
nCr = nPr / r!
