What are the 7 functions of the skin?
Sensation, heat regulation, absorption, protection, excretion, secretion, vitamin D
What is the acid mantle made up of and what is its purpose?
sebum and sweat. It protects the outer layers of the skin
What are the layers of the epidermis?
Corneum, lucidum, granulosum, spinosum, germinativum
What is collagen?
glue like consistency which plumps the skin
What is elastin?
Fibres found within the dermis and allows movement in the skin
What are the functions of the muscular system?
Skeletal- movement- attached to bones- aids lymph movement
Cardiac- involuntary- heart- provides consistent blood flow
Smooth- involuntary- internal organs- moves substances
Where is the buccinator located and what is its purpose?
Inside of the cheek and puffs them up
