What are the lines of the 4 quadrants?
Midline, transverse umbilical
What are the lines of the 9 abdominal regions?
Mid clavicular/ inguinal, subcostal (L3), intertubuclar (L5)
What is the root of the iliohypogastric nerve?
L1
What is Scarpa’s fascia?
Membranous layer deep to fat
What is Camper’s fascia?
Fatty layer above Scarpa’s
What is the action of external oblique?
Contralateral rotation, thorax flexion
What is the action of internal oblique?
Ipsilateral rotation, compresses trunk
What is the floor of the inguinal canal?
Inguinal ligament
What is the lateral crus?
The inferior portion which arch round the spermatic cord and attach to the pubic tubercle.
What is the medial crus?
The superior ligament which attaches to the pubic crest
What is the function of the inter crural fibres?
Prevent the Crura from spreading apart
What is the contents of the spermatic cord?
Testicular artery, pampiniform plexus, genitofemoral, lymph, vas deferens
What does the round ligament connect?
Uterine horns, labia majora
What is the conjoint tendon?
Made up of the internal and transverse oblique, it sits just behind the superficial ring
What is the lacunar ligament?
It connects the inguinal ligament to Cooper’s ligaments
