What is a displacement behaviour?
A displacement behaviour is a comfort behaviour that occurs when an animal is torn between two contradictory urges or is prevented from doing something that really want to do.
What is stereotypical behaviour?
repetitive actions or movement without a particular aim or goal
What are some examples of stereotypical behaviour?
pacing up and down or round and round
rocking back and forth
repeated vocalisations
tossing the head up and down
moving a limb back and forth
repeated biting or tongue movements
excessive grooming

behaviour that is not expected or normal for that species or individual
