Approach Turn Stall: happens between abeam and touch down

  1. Configuration: Downwind Configuration (Gear down, flaps up, 120 KIAS)
  2. Checklist: pre-Stalling, Spinning, and Aerobatic Check list AND before Landing Checklist through the “Breaks-checked” portion
  3. Clearing Turn: 30 degree AOB (make sure that you’re also looking above and below while you are turning)

Approach Turn Stall Procedure

A
  1. 4 T’s
    1. Transition
    2. Trim
    3. Turn
    4. Talk
  2. Once stabilized at 115 KIAS raise nose to 5-10 degrees and reduce PCL to idle. Adjust aileron to maintain AOB 30-45
  3. At first indication of stall: RELAX, MAX. LEVEL, BALL
  4. Confirm a positive rate of climb
  5. Accelerate to 115 knot climb

  1. Configuration: Slow cruise (150 KIAS) enter spin below 22,000 MSL and recover by 11,000 MSL (Bottom of the MOA)
  2. Checklist: Perform Pre-Stalling, Spinning, and Aerobatic Checklist
  3. 45 AOB, make sure to clear below, you an use the TAS below mode

SPIN Procedure

A
  1. Pull PCL to IDLE
  2. At the stick shaker, lead the stall with rudder in the desired direction of the spin. Conduct the spin in the same direction of the last half of the clearing turn
  3. when aircraft stalls, smoothly apply full rudder in the direction of spin and full back stick
  4. Recovery:
    1. full rudder in the opposite direction of the turn needle
    2. control stick forward of neutral with ailerons neutral
    3. recover from unusual attitude
    4. report the oil pressure
