Macbeth wishes the knocking would wake Duncan up from the dead
Wake Duncan with thy knocking! I would thou couldst!
Metaphor - People are false, they are planning your murder while smiling at you
There’s dagger in men’s smiles;
Vivid imagery - Unnatural things are happening, Duncan’s horses ate each other

Macbeth is becoming manipulative himself - he starts lying to even his close friend Banquo
