Transverse fracture
bone is broken perpendicular to its length
Oblique fracture
bone is broken at an angle
Spiral fracture
bone is broken with twisting motion
Commutated fracture
bone is broken into more than 3 pieces
Avulsion fracture
ligament attachment to bone overcomes the stress capacity of the bone and tears some off
Impacted fracture
broken ends of the bone are jammed together by force of injury
Greenstick fracture
bone cracks on one side only
