What is the primary function of aircrew flight clothing?
It protects the aircrew against hazards such as fire, heat, cold, and immersion in water.
What are the basic considerations in determining the level of maintenance to be used on protective flight clothing?
Mission, time, equipment, facilities, trained personnel and operational needs.
What are the two categories of maintenance?
Preventive, and corrective.
What is preventive maintenance?
The care and servicing needed to maintain equipment and facilities in satisfactory operating condition by providing for systematic inspection, detection, and correction of failures either before they occur or before they develop into major defects.
What is the reason for corrective maintenance?
It’s a result of failure of the part/equipment, or to correct defects discovered during preventive maintenance.
What must you do upon completion of any maintenance action?
Make appropriate entries on the applicable maintenance documents. (By properly maintaining these documents, you provide a complete maintenance history of the equipment throughout its service life)
Who schedules the preventative maintenance of all aircrew personal protection equipment?
The maintenance/material control officer, using the guidelines of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 (series).
What is provided by maintenance documents?
A systematic means of recording equipment history and documenting all maintenance actions performed on the equipment.
