Q

How do you expand and simply a bracketed equation?

A

Start with the largest coefficients.
Write each out.
X each number by every number in the opposing bracket.
If next to a letter add the letter and ² or ³ etc
Once fully expanded do the next bracketed coefficient.
Simplify by adding matching letters together. Eg -24x²+5x²=19ײ

Q

What is factorising and how is it performed?

A

Factorising is the opposite of expanding where you aim to put an equation into brackets.

Find the highest common factor of the factors within the equation.

Put this outside the bracket.
Then devide each term in the equation to find the missing terms.
