Why did Carondelet believe it was important to establish new slave laws?
Because he believed harsh treatment of slaves might lead to a slave rebellion, so he established laws that treated slaves more humanely.
What were the effects of the new laws?
Slaves started challenging there owners authority and began work slowdowns, soldiers from Baton Rouge wasted no time getting to pointe coupee, where they began making arrests, and 23 slaves were flogged so severly that only 4 survived. Carondelet issued a new policy that put slaves under the authority of all white people.
How did Étienne de Boré help the economy of Louisiana?
He wanted to find a better way to granulated sugar and succeeded in perfecting an easier granulating process, so sugarcane quickly became very profitable
