Slaves started challenging there owners authority and began work slowdowns, soldiers from Baton Rouge wasted no time getting to pointe coupee, where they began making arrests, and 23 slaves were flogged so severly that only 4 survived. Carondelet issued a new policy that put slaves under the authority of all white people.

A

Working class people rose up in rebellion against aristocrats. The revolt quickly became a bloodbath, and thousands of people, including king Louis XVI and queen Marie Antoinette, were beheaded.

A

Monroe and Livingston had been ordered by Jefferson to buy only the Isle of Orleans and to spend no more than $10 million. Livingston and Monroe decided to defy Jefferson’s orders and accept Napoleon’s offer to purchase the entire colony for $15 million. They negotiated with the marquis and signed the Lousiana purchase treaty on April 30, 1803.
When Jefferson learned of the negotiations, he enthusiastically supported the decision and convinced the senate to ratify it
