What is a plica (plural = plicae)?
Reflections / folds of the synovial membrane of the knee joint which may become trapped between the joint surfaces resulting in inflammation and pain
What is the MRC scale and what do the scores mean?
The MRC scale is a way of grading muscle strength (for example if we want to check if the spinal nerve supplying that muscle is still working)
Scores: 0 - no movement 1 - muscle belly moves but joint doesn't 2 - joint moves if gravity is eliminated 3 - joint moves against gravity 4 - joint moves against gravity + some extra resistance 5 - full strength
