Antigone
Antigone is a character in Antigone by Sophocles. Antigone is the daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta. She does what the gods allow. She is honorable, and does what she believes is right.
Ismene
Ismene is a character in Antigone by Sophocles. Sister of Antigone. She is a rule follower, afraid in the face of law, fearful. However, she is brave because she is willing to sacrifice herself for her sister.
Creon
Creon is a character in Antigone by Sophocles. Creon is the king of Thebes, uncle of Antigone and Ismene. He believes in the law of MAN! He doesn’t believe that the gods have an effect on men. He believes that money is the root of all mistakes.
Haemon
Haemon is a character in Antigone by Sophocles. He is the son of Creon and Eurydice. He is the fiance of Antigone. He believes in equality. He thinks that the people’s opinion matters! He also thinks that Antigone deserves a crown!
Polyneices
Polyneices is a character in Antigone by Sophocles. Antigone buries him even though she is not allowed to.
Etoclese
Etoclese is a character in Antigone by Sophocles. He is the bother of Antigone who is allowed to be buried.
Eurydice
Eurydice is a character in Antigone by Sophocles. She is the wife of Creon. She kills herself because her son Haemon kills himself because Antigone kills herself.
Oedipus
Oedipus is a character in Antigone by Sophocles. Oedipus is the son of Laius. He kills his father, marries his mother. Once he finds out he married and had children with his mother, Jocasta, he stabs his eyes out and wanders the desert blind. Father of Antigone, Ismene, Etoclese, and Polyneices.
Leader
The Leader is a character in Antigone by Sophocles. The Leader is the Leader of the Chorus. He speaks on behalf of them.
Chorus
The Chorus is a character in Antigone by Sophocles. The Chorus is the theme establisher and moral compass of the play. They let you know who you’re supposed to be rooting for.
Tireisieras
Tireisieras is a character in Antigone by Sophocles. He is the blind prophet. He predicts that everything wrong in Thebes is Creon’s fault, because when you mess with fate, bad things happen. He also predicts that Creon’s son is going to die because of all of Creon’s mistakes.
Century
The Century is a guard in Antigone by Sophocles. The Century is the one who tells Creon that Polynecious has been buried. Creon thinks that the Century buried him, but then the Century goes on watch and tells Creon that it was Antigone who buried her brother.
