Arabic numerals were developed by Indian mathematicians, which was adopted by Arabic mathematicians in Baghdad which was passed to the West
How did cultural exchange affect the Networks of Communication & Exchange?
Theravada Buddhism originated India but travelled through networks of communication to China becoming Mahayana Buddhism. Knowledge of crops such as crystallization of sugar spread knowledge across Indian Ocean Trade Network
What were the top two improved commercial practices?
European bills of exchange used so merchants could have safer business, and Chinese paper currency as well
Examples of improved transportation technologies
Camels and horses were given saddles so could hold lots of goods, ships were expanded as well. Caravanaseria and Chinese Junk ships are the names for these things
What were some effects of the Black Plague?
- Caused lots of migration from urban to rural areas so people could farm
- If someone survived they would be in high demand and could get higher wages
How did Mongols contribute to rise and fall of states?
Golden Horde Khanate took over Kievan Rus but ultimately pushed out by Moscow. Great Khan took over Song Dynasty but were dominated by Ming Dynasty
