Q

Mexican Revolution 7.1

A

This was a revolution that was because of the corruptness that happens in Mexico, because of how there is a huge gap between Mexican people, the elite and the foreign in Mexico. There was the want for a restribution for land as well as the oil control for the mexican people. There is a desire for the reforms, and there is an art movement as well. (LO.1: We find how because of the corruption going on and the unfair condition for the Mexican people (not elite society) was the primary reason that people wanted change, and started the revolution against the dictatorship of Porfirio as well as the ownership of important resources for the country.)

Russian Revolution 7.1

A

During this time, we find how Russia was in a period where tsars were not allowing reform and change in Russia, which made it harder for Russia to have success, especially in external affairs like wars and military operations. This caused for a communist revolution that’s objective was to have a government that could lead them to a just society. (LO.1: We find how the slow and poor spread of education as well as the amount of change going on in Russia at the time was leading to unjust conditions, and a lot of failure for the Russians. We find how because of little change and development wars were harder on the Russian.)

Q

Causes of WWI 7.2

A

WW1 was caused as an effect of Militarism, Alliances, Nationalism and Imperialism. We find how these aspects in society were able to lead to the want and search for power as well as the glorification of war, that lead to societies and governments being able to put their whole efforts into the war. (LO.2: We find how nationalism was one of the main causes for WW1 because of the way that pride in ones own nation as well as the desire to prove dominance was able to lead nations to begin competing against each other in this manner. Since Germany and Italy had been recently unified this sense of nationalism was able to be more present and lead them to want more power. The tension in colonies also facilitated this war to occur.)

Q

Total War 7.3

A

These are wars where the majority of the efforts in a state are dedicated to war. This means that things like the economy of a nation become extremely lenient on wanting to help win the war. We find that some examples of how this was able to happen, was how whilst men were at war, women were able to work in factories to produce more armed forces and weapons. There was also things like the limiting of food and resources to the grand majority of the citizens because of them being needed for soldiers and people in the actual war. (LO.3: We find that government was able to conduct war by being able to use all of their economy and strength into the war. We find how by using things like Propaganda they were able to promote war and be able to glorify it enough for people, especially young men to enlist.)

Great Depression 7.4

A

We find how this was a period of global downturn, where every country had to face the effects of a postwar treaty that would lead to poverty everywhere. We find how the stock market crash was able to lead to extreme poverty in the United States, and because it was a leading economic power it affected other countries as well. Germany facing the huge debt due to WW1 had to face the worst poverty during this time. (LO.4: We find how the response to the economic crisis was able to differ in the way that some countries like Japan were able to dig themselves out of this depression by being able to match their currency value depending on the currency value of other states.)

Q

New Deal 7.4

A

In the United States we find how president Roosevelt, was able to attempt to get out of the depression by using Keynesian Economics (using deficit spending, which is spending more than taking in) to help give the country reform, relief and recovery. (LO.4: We find how during this time this policy would be able to help to relieve a lot, by being able to decline unemployment and rising production, but it was stopped when Roosevelt feared that deficits were growing too large.)

Five Year Plans (Soviet Union) 7.4

A

This was Stalin’s attempt to transform the USSR into an industrial power. We find how this would be able to attempt to make the nation be able to “catch up” to western industrial powers. Stalin’s harsh rule caused for a lot of unfair working conditions that was able to lead to a lot of death because of things like punishments, but was also able to cause rapid industrialization during the 1930s. (LO.4: We find how during this time using control over agriculture and production, Stalin was able to harshly use his control to help the Soviet Union industrialize. Some of the 5 year plans were unsuccessful however before the 1930s.)

Q

Fascist Corporatist Economy 7.4

A

These were economies that were able to have total control of the citizens in it’s government. This means that the people in the government must follow and obey what the government tells them to do. (LO.4: We find how some governments like Italy or Germany, responded to the economic crisis by being able to create fascist governments that were able to control all the economic and other affairs the country would have. In this total rule, people hoped that turning to the government could result in the escape from the Great Depression.)

Q

Mandates 7.5

A

We find that these were policies set in place during the Berlin Conference, where colonies that were promised freedom during WW1, were instead taken over by the Allied powers from the central powers despite what was previously promised. (LO.5: We find how there was a shift in power in Africa, since the Allied powers were able to take control of the areas that were previously owned by central powers, and divide them among themselves in equal power. We find how they were able to justify this by being able to state that “tutelage” (we find how this is the need for guidance for development of a nation) and were able to justify the need for the control of these states.)

Q

Causes of WWII 7.6

A

Things like the rise of Nazism, the effects of the Treaty of Versailles, German-Austrian Unification, and more land invasion from Germany, were the primary causes for WW1. On september 1st 1939, Hitler takes over Poland and is the immediate cause of WW2. (LO.6: We find that during this time being able to attempt at keeping the peace by not interfering we find that the League of Nations was able to let Germany and Hitler get away with invasions of lands and some of the first steps into causing WW2. We find that most of the causes all have to do with the invasion of nations around Germany in an attempt to expand.)

New military tech WWII 7.7

A

We find that in WWII, Hitler’s idea of “Lighting War” Blitzkreig, was able to use tanks, planes and other technological warfare, to be able to conquer a region as quick as possible. We find that in Britain there are radars and planes to be able to win the Battle of Britain. As well as this the atomic bomb is created and used during this time. (There is a lot of fire-bombing as well.) (LO.7: We find that the creation of new technologies is very common during this war, especially since new and advanced technology was the primary way that nations were able to be successful in their victories during this war.)

Holocaust 7.8

A

Systematic killing in Hitler’s rule that kills 6 million jews and 6 million undesirable people in the German empire during this time. A mass genocide that is discovered at the end of the war. (LO.8: We find that during this time, mass atrocities were able to be very impactful to the way societies were shaped in a way that would cause extreme conditions for the jews and complete injustice that would go against the civil rights of a human being.)

Ukrainian genocide 7.8

A

(AKA:Holodomur) During this time we find that in Ukraine there was a mass genocide caused by anti-collectivization in this society at the time. We find that it consisted of the SU, closing off the borders and forcing citizens into starvation. (LO.8: We find that this genocide is able to cause kill about 3.9 million citizens because of the total communist rule under Stalin that was against Kulaks that were extremely successful during this time, and resisted Stalin’s forced collectivization.)
