  1. In fenced substation yards or other hard hat designated areas.
  2. When engaged in or when in the close proximity of outdoor work or in all areas where there is exposure above head level to moving equipment, work, or material handling.
  3. Persons working at elevated locations more than 4 feet above the ground and utilizing fall protection PPE shall wear a BPA approved climbing style helmet attached with chin strap.
  4. When working on equipment requiring Arc Flash PPE. Wearing an arc rated hood with an integral helmet is acceptable.

A

Hardhats may be removed for work inside
transformers, reactors, power circuit breakers, under vehicles, or in similarly restricted/protected situations where there is no possibility of injury from falling objects.
