Description of RPM
SPM:
Non-verbal
60 items in 5 sets
Each item presents a sequence of geometrical patterns in a matrix.
One pattern is missing and the individual must choose the pattern that completes the matrix from 6-8 options
Items get progressively harder
APM:
Adults (48 items)
What does the RPM measure?
Fluid intelligence: ability to think clearly and to identify meaningful patterns in complex information
Eductive reasoning: the ability to infer or work out an answer based on only information that has been given
What are the different formats of the RPM
CPM: colour, 4-7 or those with disabilities
SPM: 7-18 (60 items)
APM: 18+ (48 items)
What is the Flynn affect?
As generations progress IQ is improving by 5-25 due to increased practice on tests and the cognitive skills being integrated into school curriculums.
Why could the Flynn effect be happening?
