Q

What is the difference between evaporation and condensation

A

In condensation the water cools and falls to the ground. And in evaporation the water is heated and then turns into water vapour.

6
Q

Explain the difference between dew point and saturation

Q

Explain the difference between weather and climate

A

Weather: Short period of time, this is where it rains or is windy for short period of time

Q

Name and describe three ways in which height van be indicated on a map.

A

There are 3 main methods of showing height on maps that are spot height , layer colouring and contours

Spot height
A point on a map with a number giving its height above sea level in metres

Layer colouring / layer shading
A method of showing height on a map by using colours.

Triangulation pillar
A concrete pillar used by surveyors to find the exact height and position of a place .

A

legend

17
Q

People who draw maps are called?

A

Cartographers

18
Q

Blue is most commonly used on maps to indicate the presence of…?

A

Water and marches

19
Q

Define the three types of map scales that you get

A

a) Ratio scale:- This is a scale where you determine length with numbers
b) Word Scale:- The same as Ratio scale only this is in words
c)A linear scale consists of a line, divided into primary units, with secondary units to the left of the 0.
Remember that the primary units to the left of the 0 must be exactly the same size or length as the
primary units to the right of the 0.

20
Q

Change the following scale into a ratio form:

1cm = 19km

A

1cm=19km
=1cm:19000m
=1cm:190000cm
=1:190000
