Who can authorise an article 6 road stop?
Officer of rank at least superintendent in writing
What 4 occasions are you entitled to do an article 6 Road Stop?
Done to ascertain if vehicle is carrying
A)any person who has committed an offence other than a road traffic one
B)a person who is witness to such an offence
C)a person intending to commit such an offence
D)a person who is unlawful at large
If no superintendent to give written authority for article 6 road check can it still be done?
Yes. If it’s needed as a matter of urgency then it can be done by any officer.
As long as they write it down at time and inform a superintendent.
For article 6 Road Check how long can it last?
If by a superintendent it can last for 7 days. It can be continuous or can be at certain times.
If they feel it needs longer then they can direct this. As long as each period is 7 days
