The elbow joint is and example of what joint
Hinge
The atlantoaxial joint is an example of what joint
Pivot
The metacarpophalangeal joints are an example of what
Condyloid
Thumb is an example of what
Saddle
Joint between manubrium and sternum is what
Cartilaginous
Sutures of the skull are examples of what
Fibrous
Coracoacromial union is example of what
Ligamentous
What are the two classifications
Diarthrosis
Synarthrosis
What are the characteristics of Diarthrosis
- Articular cavity is present
- Joint encased within a ligamentous capsule
- Capsule lines with synovial membrane that secretes synovial fluid for joint lubrication
- Smooth articulate surface
- Articulate surface covered with hyaline cartilage or fibrocartilage
Characteristics of synarthrosis
- In cartilaginous and fibrous the two bones unite by means of an intervening substance
- Ligamentous is not a true joint
- No articulate cavity, capsule, synovial membrane or fluid
Non axial joints?
Irregular joint
Unusual joints
Hinge
Pivot
