What information do you require for Aircraft transponder testing?

A
  • Squawk to be used for the test (Normally 0002).
  • Time the transponder test is scheduled to start.
  • Duration of the transponder test.
  • Altitude they are operating from and to (i.e. SFC - 30,000FT).
  • Contact name and telephone number of the person conducting the test.
  • Request a call to confirm completion of the Transponder Test.
  • Advise the ADI ATCO and APP/APS ATCO/ATSA
  • Advise TC East.

A
  • Time the ELT test is scheduled to start.
  • Duration of the ELT test.
  • Have the UK MCC (Mission Control Centre) been informed (This shall be done by the Marshall Aerospace staff member conducting the test, using 03443 820902)
  • Is the ELT test shielded/unshielded?
  • Contact name and telephone number of the person conducting the test.
  • Request a call to confirm completion of the ELT test.
  • Advise the ADI ATCO and APP/APS ATCO/ATSA.
  • Advise D+D.

In what situations do we call GS airports?

A

When an aircraft is outbound to one of the TMA airports as noted on the desk cheat sheet, must be called before aircraft is cleared to start to determine if there is any delay.

When HLE88 is outbound in Stansted or Luton direction so that GS may create a strip for the Stansted or Luton Radar controller.
