Eukaryotic
Complex Cells Which have a cell membrane cytoplasm and nucleus E.G plant and animal cells
Prokaryotic cells
Simpler and smaller cells e.G.bacteria
What is the xylem function in the plant
To transport Water and mineral ions from the roots to the leaves
To support plant
How are xylem cells adapted
Spirals of Linen in cell walls to strengthen tube. To help them with stand the pressure of the water and support the stem
Cells die to form Long hollow tubes so water and mineral ions can move easily through them
What is the function of the phloem
Carries food made by photosynthesis around the body of a plant
Adaptations of the phloem
Sieve plates which allow water carrying dissolve food to move freely up and down the tubes
What is an isotonic solution
The solution outside the cell is the same Concentration as inside the cell
What is a Hypertonic solution
Where the Concentration of the solution outside the cell is higher than the concentration inside the cell
What is a hypotonic solution
When concentration outside the cell is lower than the concentration inside the cell
Turgid
A lot of water inside cell
Flaccid
Water leaves and enters cell
Plasmolysed
More water is lost by osmosis
