A

York and Salisbury leave their safety at his castle in Sandal and are opposed by a much larger Lancastrian force.

Outcome of the Battle of Wakefield

A

York, his younger son Rutland and Salisbury’s son - Thomas Neville - are killed in battle. Salisbury was executed at Pontefract Castle the following day. York and Salisbury’s heads are staked on Mickelgate Bar and a paper crown is placed on York’s head.
