Q

explain why excercising in the heat can be potentially dangerous ( dan was here)

A

heatstroke can be the reason for why excersising in the heat can be dangerous. “The bigger factor in heatstroke is the heat you generate yourself .” excersising in hot weather can accelerate fluid loss. which occurs when sweat glands cant evaporate to keep the boy cool. This affects the bodies thermoregulation and homeostasis. Homeostasis is the maintenance of relatively stable internal body despite the changes to external environment body temp.

Q

stimulus response model to increase in heat with sweating

A

stimulus: rise in body temp
receptor: thermoreceptors in the hypothalamus or skin detect increase
modulator: the hypothalamus then processes the change and signals the other cells to act
effector: muscle cells let blood vessels to dilate and allow increase blood flow and activates sweat glands
response: start sweating
negative feedback: body cools down

Q

explain using a negative feedback loop how sweat works to cool down the body

A

when you sweat the sweat on your skin evaporates. Turning a liquid into a gas requires energy. When sweat evaporates it takes away heat energy from your skin making you cool down

Q

explain why even if its cold, someone running a marathon still gets hot

A

when your exercising, your muscles work harder and your metabolic rate increases. This is when your body burns calories and producing heat. Thus making your body hot
