Bioenergetics Flashcards
Where does photosynthesis take place in the plant?
Chloroplasts
What is the word equation for photosynthesis?
Carbon dioxide + water —light–> glucose + oxygen
Is photosynthesis endothermic or exothermic?
This is an endothermic reaction because photosynthesis needs an input of energy from the environment.
Does the rate of photosynthesis increase or decrease when more carbon dioxide is added?
Increase - Carbon dioxide is one of the reactants needed for plants to make glucose. The rate of photosynthesis will increase when a plant is given higher concentrations of carbon dioxide up to a point.
What are the limiting factors?
Concentration of carbon dioxide, light intensity, temperature, amount of chlorophyll
