Q

What did Audi do in Germany with the power demand?

A

They built an electrolyser. They spill excess electricity to their electrolyser and don’t pay anything. Built it by an AD. H2 is used with the CO2 and they make methane for vehicles to run on. So they produce biomethane and e gas. Price is based on CO2 saved.

9
Q

Why is biogas upgrading done ex situ from the AD

A

H2 inhibits some of the bacteria from digesting.

10
Q

Explain the plant in Allendorf and Biocat.

A

Have a 300kw electrolyser at 60% efficiency. 60m^3 H2/hour. They make 16m^3 biomethane and then 14m^3 CO2 leftover. H2 is added so you get 14m^3 e methane.
Biocat the same just a 1MW electrolyser

Q

What quantity of Denmark’s gas is biomethane from digesters? What level will this get to by 2035 and how?

A

40%
65% by using electrolysers to make H2 to react with the CO2 to increase biomethane production
