add iodine. positive=blue/black
how do you test for a reducing sugar
add 1cm of benedict’s reagent
mix tube
put into water bath for 5 minutes
how do you test for a non reducing sugar
add 1cm of dilute hcl acid
place in water bath for 5 mins
neutralise with sodium hydrogen powder
add 1cm of benedicts reeagent
place in water bath for 5 minutes
How do you test for protein
add a few drops of biuret
look for blue ring at surface of solution
agitate gently
positive=violet lilac purple
