Blackwell’s is one of the most famous bookshops in the world. It has been at number 53 Broad Street since 1883. Though the shop may appear small, there is in fact a 3 mile long corridor underneath which houses the vast volumes contained in the largest single room bookstore in the world. Interestingly the founder’s father was teetotal, in protest of the excessive tax on alcohol. Not a very fun guy, and I do feel a bit sorry for him, because there is a pub right in the centre of his store.
