Bone Flashcards
Name terminal parts of bone?
The terminal parts of bone are called epiphysis
What is name of middle parts of bone?
Middle parts of bone are called diaphysis or shaft
Name of covering of bone?
Bone is covered by periosteum.while inner layer of bone is endosteum. The endosteum further consists of peripheral compact bone with spongy bone in interior.most of spongy bone is found in epiphysis.yellow bone marrow is found in diaphysis. The cavities of spongy bone contains red bond bone marrow
Wdy know abt osteoblasts?
.Mononuclear cell
. responsible for mineralization of bone
. secret type 1 collagen
.seacre matrix and once they surrounded by matrix they become osteocyte
Wdy know abt osteocyte?
Mature bone cells
They control release of calcium from bone
Wdy know abt osteoclasts?
Bone resolving multinucleated cells
Perform bone resorption i.e deposition of calcium and phosphorus in bone .the work of osteoclasts is important to growth and repair of bone
What is the covering of cartilage?
It is covered by perichondrium
Name of living cells of cartilage ?
Living cells of cartilage are called chondrocytes
Name of cavities of cartilage?
There are many cavities of cartilage called lacunae
How cartilage receive supply?
As cartilage don’t containg blood vessels so chondrocytes are supplied by diffusion and due to this reason it heals very slowly
Name of types of cartilage?
Hyaline
Fibro
Elastic
Location of hyaline cartilage?
Most abundant cartilage
Found at end of long bones in nose ,larynx and trachea
Location of fibrocartilage?
Consists of thick collagenous fibers
Found between vertebral fisc and cartilage of knee
Location of elastic cartilage?
Found in ear flaps and epiglottis
Difference between collagen of bone and cartilage?
Bone has type 1 collagen densely packed
Cartilage had type 2 loosely packed collagen
