Q

What is High BP and when is a reading considered that¿

A

High blood pressure is a chronic increase in blood pressure above normal range
reading is considered high blood pressure when the systolic blood pressure is higher or equal to 135 MMHG and/or Diastolic BP is higher or equal to 85 mmHg

16
Q

What is the client position according to the blood pressure protocol

A

The client must be seated with back and arms supported,
the midpoint of the upper arm should be at the level of the heart,
and the client should not talk or have his legs crossed

17
Q

What happens if the clients arm is below heart level

A

The reading will be too high, they’re reading can actually be as much as eight mm higher when the arm is on the side

18
Q

What are the standard precautions taken in the BP protocol

A

The stethoscope earpieces and BP cuff have to be wiped down with an optim prior to you using them and prior to calling in the clinician

19
Q

What are the two important aspect of the BP protocol

A

The client positioning and the standard precautions needed

20
Q

How do you fdetermine maximum inflation

A

You place the cuff on the arm, locate the radio artery and Inflate the cuff until you no longer feel the radial pulse(normal BP reading), adding 30 gives you the maximum inflation

21
Q

Why it is so important we take BP during our hygiene visits?

A

Some clients do not have an MD, some do not see their MD regularly, remember over the years if the person’s blood pressure is slowly rising but still within pre-hypertensive it is not normal.
