A
  • Infection in smaller airways
  • Results in inflammation
  • Release of inflammatory mediators
  • Impairing the ciliary function
  • Cant push pathogens back up via mucus nor keep them out
  • Thus allowing bacterial penetration and tissue damage
  • Leads to airway dilation
