What is cancer?
It is when abnormal cells divide in an uncontrolled way
What is a tumour?
Swelling or a growth in a part of the body, caused by an abnormal growth of tissue
What is a benign tumour?
Aren’t cancerous and not usually life-threatening. They tend to grow slowly and don’t invade nearby tissue or spread to other parts of the body.
What is a malignant tumour?
A malignant tumour is a fast-growing cancer that spreads to other areas of the body
A type of cancer that is linked to a genetic cause is?
Breast cancer
Lifestyle choices that increase the chance of developing cancer are and how do they cause it?
Smoking- which contributes to lung cancer by damaging the cells that line the lungs and with repeated use, it can cause the cells to act abnormally.
Alcohol- too much alcohol can cause a liver cell to not act properly and copy itself too much which can contribute to cancer cells.
