Dominance related aggression can be treated by?

A
  1. TCA: Clomipramine, Amitryptiline. (Tricyclic antridepressant)
  2. SSRI: Paroxetine, Sertraline, Fluoxetine (1mg/kg orally24hours)
    (selective serotonin reactors inhibitors)

1+2= antidepressiva

  1. Tryptophan - precursor for serotonin and higher serotonin levels menns better mood.
  2. Propanolol - betablocker, we USE in order to release some elevated cardiovascular symptoms.
  3. Anxiolytic drugs - reduce agression, but becarefull when anxiety and fear will be reduced. It can cause agression.

Drugs to treat OCD

A
  1. Chlomipramine - TCA
  2. Fluxoxetine - SSRI
  3. Nalmefene
  4. Naloxone
  5. Haloperidol - Neurolactic (butyotype)
  6. Dextrometorphan: inhibits serotonin uptake
    (2mg/kg every 12hours orally for 2weeks)

  2. Reactive breeds: Bordercollies and German sheppard
OCD in:
Dobberman =Flank sucling
Oriental cat breeds = Wool sucling
Horses = Cribbiting, wind-sucling 
Pigs = Chain rooting and chain chewing

What is OCD?

A

Obsessive compulsive disorder

  • conflict(restricted conditions- canibalism), Steriotypies
  • boredom/attenshion seeking not OCD

Subset of. Anxiety related disorers =ALD, acral licking disorder

Manifestation of OCD, OCD Symptoms

A
  1. Eating disorders (30% of poets are owerveight)
    - Pica (eating substances witought nutritional value)
    - Coprophagia
    (Offen not OCD but, VITB def, Pancreatic insuff. Starvation,malabs)
  2. FELINE HYPERESTHESIA, self mutilation
    - biting tail
    - skinripping
    - muscles spasm or twiching
    - reactive to everything. Smal stimuli.
  3. ACRAL LICK GRANULOMA: labrador retrievers, doberman, pincher, Dalmatian. Easilly mixable with other conditions.

Other: flea bit dermatitis, Foodhypersisitivity

Separation anxiety

Treatment:
CLOMIPRAMINE (TCA) only in dog
1-2 weeks effect
8-12 weeks side effect: vomiting
Low dose: 0,5mg/kg twise daily
Hig dose:1-2mg/kg every 12 hour

BZD for noise phobia and separation anxiety. Works within 30min-1hour
For separation anxiety:
-Chloradiazepoxide
- diazepam
