Aortic semilunar valve
Located between the left ventricle and the aorta.
Atrioventricular node
AV node; Located on the floor of the right atrium near the interatrial septum.
Arteries
Large blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart to all regions of the body.
Aorta
The largest blood vessel in the body; main trunk of the arterial system.
Arterioles
The smaller thinner branches of arteries that deliver blood to the capillaries.
Atherosclerosis
Hardening and narrowing of the arteries caused by a buildup of cholesterol plaque on the interior walls of the arteries.
Atheroma
A characteristic of artherosclerosis, is a deposit of plaque on or within the arterial wall.
Angina
Angina pectoris; A condition in which severe episodes of chest pain occur due to an inadequate blood flow to the myocardium.
Atria
The two upper chambers of the heart, and these chambers are divided by interatrial septum.
