What does a worsening GHE mean?
Sea levels rise
Global warming
What does more uncertainty mean?
More extreme weather
More precipitation change
More temp. change
More storms/floods/drought
What does more impacts mean?
More food insecurity
More water conflicts
More vulnerable in poverty
More environmental refugees
Why will water shortages only get worse?
Rising temps.
Greater precipitation
Rising poverty means can’t afford clean water
Agriculture suffers therefore affects food security
Why will food security get worse?
Exacerbate famine
Rising poverty so more rely on food aid
Biofuels take up land
Cash crops suffer from unsuitable conditions
BUT Kenya more rainfall and Arctic longer growing seasons
Lack of adaptive capacity in developing countries
Ecosystems v. sensitive so can’t always adapt to change with help of intermediate tech.
